Warning: Pillar of Truth Christian Church has a deceptive doctrinal Statement! (West Hempstead, Long Island NY)

Pillar of Truth Christian Church appears to be like any other non-denominational Christian Church. Don’t believe it! Their pastor, Tyler Doka, and Evangelist, Justin LeBlanc, believe several strange things.

  1. The Earth is (literally) flat. (Not kidding!) See video here
  2. Planets don’t exist (See video here)
  3. Not all Christians are saints
  4. Not all Christians will be raptured
  5. Some Christians will go to the lake of fire
  6. Christians shouldn’t wear suits or anything other than casual clothes in church

You would never guess this from the doctrinal statement on the Pillar of Truth Christian Church website. Here’s what that looks like:

SALVATION & ETERNAL SECURITY

We believe that the salvation is by grace, through faith, and not of works. This means that salvation cannot be earned by any work (church attendance, baptism, keeping the commandments, etc..). You receive salvation through putting your faith on Jesus Christ, and that he died, was buried, and rose from the grave to pay for your sin. This cannot be earned, so it cannot be lost. If it is a gift, then no amount of good works, or bad works, can make you lose it.

Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Romans 10:9 – “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

JESUS CHRIST IS GOD

We believe that Jesus the Christ is God in the flesh, and was begotten of the Holy Ghost by the Virgin Mary. We also believe that Mary did not remain a virgin, but had other children.

1 Timothy 3:16 – “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”

Mathew 1:18 – “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Mark 6:3 – “Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.”

TRINITY

We believe in the triune nature of our one God being three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. All three persons of the trinity are equally God. We reject the teachings “Oneness” & “Modalism” that state that Jesus Christ manifests himself in different modes when he wants to be the Father or when he wants to be the Holy Spirit, this is not taught in scripture.

1 John 5:7 – “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”

John 1:1 – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Matthew 3:16-17 – “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

 KING JAMES BIBLE ONLY

We believe that the King James Bible is the Word of God, and we believe that God himself inspired and preserved it. There will be no other bible versions used in our church.

2 Peter 1:21 – “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

Psalm 12:6-7 – “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”

Isaiah 59:21 – “As fore me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever”

A lot of that doesn’t look half-bad, but don’t believe that the church is in any way teaching acceptable Christian doctrine. You are bound to encounter a lot of weirdness at Pillar of Truth Christian Church!
